The Aspiring Community Foundation was established as an incorporated charitable trust in 2024. We are one of more than 20 Community Foundations in Aotearoa, which collectively have granted more than $70 million to their local communities over the past 5 years. Our Impact

We connect donors with causes they care about. We work collaboratively with donors, funders and businesses to nurture community projects and local initiatives.

The Aspiring Community Foundation proudly promotes local philanthropy, connecting donors, funders and businesses with community need, fostering a culture of giving, and driving positive change by nurturing community projects and local initiatives for generations to come.

We connect current and future donors by communicating the impact of their contribution.

History

Launching a community foundation demands significant time, resources and passion. In 2022 a group of locals formed a steering group and undertook a feasibility study, after recognising that there was no cohesive, focussed vehicle for generous Wānaka and Upper Clutha locals to give in a way that would support the future needs of local communities.

The feasibility study outlined the value of establishing a community foundation in the Upper Clutha. As our region grows, the needs of our people and our place continue to evolve. Many great local initiatives struggle to find sustainable funding. Long-term change needs long-term solutions, and there’s currently no coordinated way for like-minded givers to combine their generosity for greater impact.
